Information about Lawrenceville Elementary Chess Club, May 2019

  • The current session of the after school chess program will conclude on 3/28/2019.

  • Following spring break, a final LES chess program of the 2018-9 school year will take place on Thursdays, from May 2 through June 6 2019. Registration (for all members, new and returning) opens Monday, April 8 at 7:30pm. Please read on for details about registration.

  • Chess club will begin upon 3:20 dismissal and will end at 4:35pm. LES Chess club is open only to LES students.

  • The cost of the 6 week program is $90. (online payment will be set up after enrollment is complete, and parents will be notified when this has occurred)

  • The program is open to all experience levels, including those brand new to chess. It is open to students in Grades K-3.

  • Each after school chess club contains an interactive lesson, chess puzzles, and then a chance for kids to play each other, usually in a weekly tournament format. At the conclusion of each semester chess-related prizes are given to the best performers in the class.

    LES Chess Registration information

  • Registration for chess club must be completed online

  • Enrollment for all members of LES chess club (new and returning members) opens Monday, April 8 at 7:30pm. Chess Clubs Slots will be filled on a first come first serve basis after registration is opened. Chess club requires a minimum of 8 students enrolled and has a maximum capacity of 35 students. Only the first 20 students to enroll can be guaranteed slots in chess club, the remaining slots (#21-#35) will be contingent upon finding an additional teacher.

  • Parents will receive confirmation of their registration within 1 day of completion. Online payment will subsequently be made available as soon as there are 8 students enrolled for LES chess.

  • As part of their registration package, each new member will receive a free 3 month membership to Chesskid.com so that they can learn and practice chess at home. In addition, both returning and new members will receive a chess workbook in order to sharpen their skills at home.

  • Chess sets will be provided at club, so your child needn't bring one.
