Information about Eldridge Park Elementary Chess Club, 2019

  • The Winter/Spring  EPS chess program will be a 15 week program, held on Mondays from 1/7 to 5/20/2018 (excluding half days and holidays) from 2:40 p.m. to 4:00 p.m (6/3/2018 is reserved as a make-up day in the event of a cancellation due to weather/sickness). 

  • Chess club will begin upon 2:40 dismissal and will end at 4pm. Chess club is open only to EPS students.

  • The program must have a minimum of 8 students enroll in order to be viable.

  • The cost of the 15 week program is $225, with a sibling discount of $40 for any additional family members (i.e. $225 for the first family member, $185 for additional ones). Scholarships may be available in cases where a child is interested in chess but cannot afford the cost. If interested, please email me for more information.

  • If your child is interested in chess club, but unable to attend for the whole duration of the program, you may be able to sign them up for a partial course. In these cases, please email me to inquire about the possibility.

  • The program is open to all experience levels, including those brand new to chess. It is open to students in Grades 1-3. Kindergarteners with older siblings in attendance may also inquire about signing up. Contact me here.

  • Each after school chess club contains an interactive lesson, chess puzzles, and then a chance for kids to play each other, usually in a weekly tournament format. At the conclusion of each semester chess-related prizes are given to the best performers in the class.

  • Registration for chess club must be completed online after the designated enrollment period (form at the bottom of this web page). Parents will be contacted, and online payment will be made available as soon as there are 8 students enrolled for EPS chess. Checks will also be accepted as a form of payment.

  • if your child signs up for after school chess and your family then decides it is not a good fit, a refund for the remainder of classes will always be given.

  • As part of their registration package, each after school chess member will receive a gold level membership, and/or a chess workbook.

  • Chess sets have generously been donated by the EPS PTO, so your child needn't bring one.

 The enrollment period for 2019 EPS chess will begin on Monday, December 3 at 8pm. To enroll, please fill out the online form below, after the enrollment period has opened. FORMS FILLED OUT BY NEW APPLICANTS BEFORE THE ENROLLMENT PERIOD BEGINS on 12/3 WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED! New members will be admitted on a first come first serve basis, with total enrollment capped at 22 students.
